Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Kazi Akramuddin Ahmed will lead the country’s business community in the next two years as the elected directors of  the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) lent their support to him as the apex trade body president. Akramuddin Ahmed was the only candidate for the post of FBCCI president.
Earlier, the Akramuddin-led panel swept the biennial election to the FBCCI winning 20 posts of directors out of 30.
Monwara Hakim Ali and M Helal Uddin were elected first vice president and vice president of the FBCCI for the next two years. Monwara is 
the first woman to become first vice president in FBCCI’s history.
The Akramuddin panel won 11 posts out of  15 from the chamber group and nine posts out of 15 from the association group in the election to lead the business community for  the 2012-4 term.
FBCCI election board chairman Prof M Ali Ashraf, MP announced the results at 5:45am on Sunday.
About 91 percent voters cast their votes — 383 votes (out of 390 voters) from Chamber group while 1439 votes (out of 1611 voters) from association group, said election board chairman Ali Ashraf.
