Khairul Haque new Chief Justice of Bangladesh

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- President Zillur Rahman on Sunday appointed Justice ABM Khairul Haque, a judge of the Appellate Division, as the next Chief Justice of the country.

His appointment will come into force on September 30 this year, an official announcement said.

Chief Justice Mohammad Fazlul Karim will go on retirement on September 29.

Justice Haque was born in Madaripur district on May 18, 1944.

He was appointed as an additional judge in the High Court (HC) Division of the Supreme Court on April 27, 1998.

After two years, he was appointed as a judge of the HC Division of the Supreme Court on April 27, 2000.

Justice Haque was elevated as a judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on July 16, 2009.
