Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Four-party alliance will take part in the upcoming parliamentary polls if the election date is deferred to December 28 from originally scheduled December 18, BNP chairperson and the alliance chief Khaleda Zia announced in Dhaka on Thursday evening.

The announcement came after a hectic meeting of the four-party alliance following BNP standing-committee meeting presided over by Khaleda Zia at BNP Gulshan office in the capital, Dhaka.

The BNP-led four-part alliance chief, however, set three preconditions –complete lifting of emergency from the date of withdrawal of candidature, repeal of article 91(e) of the Representation of the People Order (RPO) and deferring upazila polls by a month.

The caretaker government on Wednesday night declared that the ninth parliamentary election will be held on the original scheduled date of December 18, after its frantic two-day negotiations with BNP-led 4-party alliance on the question of poll deferment had failed.
