Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – The authorities allowed light vehicles to ply the Khilgaon flyover in the capital Dhaka Saturday afternoon nearly 18 hours after its suspension.

It was closed around 7:00pm on Friday after a part of the six-year-old structure slightly sank displacing three shuttering plates.

A team comprising experts from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Local Government and Engineering Department (LGED), Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) and Bangladesh Army reopened the flyover at around 1:00pm after an inspection, The Daily Star, a local newspaper, reported.

There is no structural flaw in the country’s largest and second flyover and it will not need serious maintenance, the newspaper also said quoting experts.

The flyover of the country was opened to traffic on March 24, 2005 during the tenure of BNP-Jamaat government.
