Korean Woori Bank wants to open branch in Bangladesh’s port city

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - High officials of Woori Bank of Korea met Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) president Murshed Murad Ibrahim on Saturday and expressed keen interest to open their branch in the country’s port city Chittagong.
They urged the CCCI president to arrange a space in the World Trade Centre in the city to open the branch which they consider as the commercial hub of this region because of its geographical location, a press statement said.
Welcoming the representatives, the CCCI president said Bangladesh has deep economic relations with Korea and late Sekander Hossian Meah, former president of the CCCI, was the first honorary Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Chittagong.
Ibrahim also mentioned that the support and cooperation of Youngone Corporation of Korea, the single-largest investor in the RMG sector, at the beginning of the construction works of the country’s first and the lone World Trade Centre.
Sang Won Lee, IT Specialist from Korea, Tae Hang Oh, Deputy General Manager and Head of Operation and Niaz Uddin Khan, Senior Manager and Head of Offshore Banking Business Department of Woori Bank in Dhaka were also present on the occasion.
They also expressed their keen interest to contribute towards expansion of the banking sector for the economic progress of this region.
