Washington, US (BBN)-A solo album of unheard music from Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain is to be released in November alongside a biopic about his life.
The untitled album will act as a soundtrack to documentary Montage of Heck, which will be released on DVD in the US on November 6, reports the Sky News.
The film's director Brett Morgen told Billboard the material was complied from 200 hours of recordings over 108 cassettes, including "a mind-blowing" 12-minute acoustic track and a song featuring a Cobain falsetto.
He said he decided to delve into the archives for Cobain's daughter Frances Bean Cobain, after completing the movie.
Describing the album, he told Billboard: "It feels like you're in Kurt's house, watching him create. You're eavesdropping on him… in the most positive sense of the word, with a great deal of sensitivity, too."
Morgen told AwardsLine the album would also feature unreleased music from the film and includes "audio montages that Kurt Cobain created", recordings of Cobain talking between tracks and a sketch comedy routine.
According to Morgen, the album is a "lighter portrait of Kurt" and "lyrics are really playful" - deepening an understanding of the musician and personality.
