Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Lafarge Surma Cement Limited dominated the week’s turnover on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) last week that ended on Thursday.
According to statistics from the DSE, some 16.18 million Lafarge shares were traded, generating a turnover of BDT 1.28 billion last week, which was 5.90 per cent of the premier bourse week’s total turnover.
Daily average turnover for the multinational cement producer’s was over BDT 256 million.
The company’s share price closed at BDT 81.60 on Thursday, the last trading session of the week, registering an increase of 13.65 per cent over the previous week
Recently, the board of directors of Lafarge has recommended 5.0 per cent final cash dividend (i.e. total 10% cash for the year 2015 inclusive of 5% interim cash dividend) for the year ended on December 31, 2015.
The final approval will come during the annual general meeting (AGM) scheduled to be held on June 16.
The company has disclosed un-audited first quarter (Q1) financial report.
As per Q1 financial report, consolidated EPS was BDT 0.43 for January-March, 2016 as against BDT 0.50 for January-March, 2015.
Lafarge Surma was listed on the Dhaka bourse in 2003.
The cement sector company belongs to the “A” category.
The sponsor-directors own 64.68 percent stake in the Lafarge, while institutional investor 13.99 per cent, foreign 1.54 percent and the general public 19.79 per cent as on April 30, 2016.
The company’s paid-up capital is BDT 11,613.70 million and authorised capital is BDT 14,000 million, while the total number of securities is 1,161,373,500.
Lafarge Surma was, followed by Titas Gas BDT 969 million, Shahjibazar Power Compnay BDT 798 million, United Airways BDT 531 million, United Power BDT 511 million and MJL Bangladesh BDT 473 million.
Doreen Power Generations and Systems was also included in the top ten turnover list with shares worth BDT 454 million changing hands, followed by Khan Brothers PP Woven Bag Industries BDT 436 million, Beximco Pharmaceucals BDT 407 million, and Summit Alliance Port BDT 386 million.
