Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Lafarge Surma Cement, one of the largest construction material producers, emerged as the week’s top turnover leader at Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) last week that ended on Thursday.

Investors traded Lafarge Surma Cement’s 13.62 million shares worth BDT 1.17 billion last week on the DSE, according to the DSE website.

“Investors went after the shares of Lafarge in recent days as Padma Bridge contract signing lured investors much in cement sector companies,” a stock broker told the BBN.

Each share price closed at BDT 81.7 as of Thursday, shedding 0.97 percent from previous week.

Of the total shares, 70.06 percent shares of Lafarge’s in sponsors/directors’ hands while rest of 29.94 percent in public hands, according to the DSE website.

After Lafarge Surma Cement, the week’s other turnover leaders were GP with shares worth BDT 1.10 billion changing hands, BSRM Steels BDT 747.32 million, newly listed Peninsula Chittagong with shares worth BDT 569.87 million, Square Pharmaceuticals worth BDT 472.22 million, Beximco Limited worth BDT 430.52 million, BSCCL worth BDT 303.25 million, Heidelberg Cement worth BDT 289.06 million, MJL BD worth BDT 277.22 million and Mithun Knitting with shares worth BDT 275.92 million changing hands during the week.
