Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- At least 10 people were killed in the country’s southeastern Bandarban district early Friday when heavy monsoon rains triggered landslides, police said.
Nine people were killed at three landslides at Aziznagar union under Lama upazila (sub-district) while one people was killed at Gozaria union in the same upazila, a local police official confirmed.
He also said a six-member family was killed inside their house in a landslide at Aziznagar union of the district.
In South Asia, Bangladesh and Nepal landslides are common particularly during the monsoon season from June to late September.
