Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – LankaBangla Finance dominated the turnover list of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) for the third week in a row that ended on Thursday.

According to the statistics available with the DSE, about 34.54 million shares of LankaBangla were traded, generating a turnover of BDT 2.03 billion last week, which was 3.92 percent of the week’s total turnover value.

The daily average turnover for the company was BDT 406 million on the premier bourse.

The share price of the company closed at BDT 59.90 each on Thursday, the last trading session of the week, losing 11.13 per cent over previous week.

However, analysts said the company’s share price fell 11.13 per cent last week following its price adjustment after record date.

LankaBangla has recommended 15 percent cash and 15 per cent stock dividend for the year ended on December 31, 2016.

LankaBangla also witnessed earnings growth of 50.3 per cent year-on-year basis while the consolidated earnings per share (EPS) stood at BDT 2.87 for the year ended on December 31, 2016 against BDT 1.53 in the previous year.

LankaBangla Finance, which was listed on the Dhaka bourse in 2006, also disbursed 15 per cent cash and 15 percent stocks dividend for the year ended on December 31, 2015.

The company’s paid-up capital is BDT 2.76 billion and authorised capital is BDT 3.0 billion, while the total number of securities is 276.74 million.

The sponsor-directors own 34.83 per cent stake in LankaBangla, while institutional investors own 28.69 percent, foreign investors 4.94 per cent and the general public 31.54 per cent as on February 28, 2017, the DSE data shows.

LankaBangla was, closely followed by Beximco with about 51.74 million shares of BDT 1.85 billion changing hands, followed by Far Chemical Industries BDT 1.17 billion, IFIC Bank BDT 1.03 billion, Beximco Pharma BDT 990 million And Ratanpur Steel Re-rolling Mills BDT 904 million.

Baraka Power was also included in the top ten turnover chart with about 17.86 million shares of BDT 868 million changing hands, followed by City Bank BDT 812 million, Mercantile Bank BDT 790 million and Active Fine Chemicals BDT 787 million.
