Launch capsizes with 250 passengers in Bangladesh

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - A launch with more than 250 passengers on board capsized in the river Meghna after being hit by a cargo near Gozaria upazila in the country’s central Munshiganj district early Tuesday.
Thirty passengers managed to swim ashore, according to reports.
An oil loaded cargo hit a Dhaka-bound MV Shariatpur-1 launch at about 2:30am in the midstream of the river, a survivor said.
Rescue vessel MV Rustom reached the spot in the morning and was trying to trace the sunken vessel.
