Melbourne, Australia (BBN)-Mighty Sri Lanka tamed their South Asian opponent Bangladesh by 92 runs in the 18th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 in Melbourne on Thursday.
From the very beginning of the match, the Lions took Tigers totally on their grip taking all wickets one after another.
At first, Malinga removed Tamim in first over while Soumya Sarkar was caught by Sangakkara scoring only 25.
Then, Mominul Haque was also caught by Jayawardene when scored only 1.
Anamul Haque scored 29 before run out while Mahmudullah followed Haque after the bagging 28 runs.
The Tigers gave up after the fall of Shakib Al Hasan, their last hope.
Then, the fall of Mashrafe, Sabbir and Taskin concluded the match.
Bangladesh were dismissed for 240 in 47 overs, Sabbir Rahman top-scoring with 53 and Lasith Malinga taking 3-35.
Sri Lanka have two wins and one defeat from three matches, while Bangladesh have one win, one defeat and one no result.
Bangladesh were dreadful in the field, reprieving Sri Lanka opening batsman Lahiru Thirimanne three times before he was finally dismissed for a charmed 52.
Earlier, Sri Lanka is blessed with a mountain of runs as a single century from TM Dilshan and KC Sangakkara each propelled the Lions to attain the total.
The Lions achieved the mammoth total losing only one wicket in 50 overs in the 18th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.
Earlier, the partnership of openers Dilshan and HDRL Thirimanne helped the Lions to play steady in the Pool A match.
Later, Rubel Hossain made first breakthrough sending Thirimanne back to pavilion with a 52 post.
From the beginning of the match, the Lions openers played well and steady backing on the life given in the first over of Mashrafe Mortaza.
Anamul Haque dropped a dolly of opener Lahiru Thirimanne at first slip in the fourth ball of the match.
Earlier, Sri Lanka won the toss against Bangladesh and decided to bat first.
In the time of toss, Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza calls heads, but it comes down a tail.
Then Sri Lankan skipper Angelo Mathews decided to bat first.
