Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - K. A. M. Majedur Rahman, the former managing director of the Premier Bank, is set to join the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) as managing director after the Eid vacation, officials said.
“We expect that our new MD will join after the ongoing Eid vacation,” a senior official of the DSE told BBN in Dhaka.
Earlier on Wednesday, the securities regulator approved the appointment of DSE’s new managing director at the office of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) chaired by its chairman Prof. M Khairul Hossain.
On June 21, the DSE board of directors approved the appointment of Mr. Majedur as the managing director and sent the matter to the securities regulator seeking its approval in this regard.
Mr. Maedur is a professional banker, who had worked both local and foreign commercial banks in his 33 years banking carrier.
At Wednesday’s meeting the securities regulator approved the appointment of the DSE’s managing director.
After completion of the tenure by the immediate past managing director, Prof. Dr. Swapan Kumar Bala, the post of DSE’s managing director remained vacant from April 14 this year.
