Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Malaysia is keen to import halal meat, fruits and agricultural produce from Bangladesh.

Visiting Chief Minister of Malaysian State Perlis M Isa Bin Sabu expressed the interest at a meeting with Industries Minister Dilip Barua at his office in Dhaka on Saturday.

Sabu, who is leading a business delegation, informed the minister that the Malaysian entrepreneurs have already started their groundwork as they are very interested in investing in the shipbuilding sector.

Welcoming the willingness to invest in the shipbuilding industry, the minister said at present the country is building ships, which are being exported to many Scandinavian countries including Denmark.

He also urged the Malaysian government to invest in various potential sectors including pharmaceuticals, information technology (IT) and agro-based industry for the mutual benefit of the two countries.

An excellent investment-friendly atmosphere is now prevailing in the country, he said adding Bangladesh could be a good destination for any investor.

The industries minister also said Malaysia can import more Bangladeshi manpower and sought active role from Sabu in this regard.
