Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh visited the National Mausoleum at Savar Tuesday afternoon to pay homage to the millions of martyrs of the Liberation War of 1971.
Army bugles played the last post as the national flag was revealed, lowered to half mast and then revealed again as part of the ceremonial mourning as the Indian premier stood in solemn silence offering wreaths on the altar of the structure.
Later, Dr. Singh signed the visitors’ book and planted a sapling of carambola, a fruit bearing tree, at the memorial premises where he was accompanied by Food Minister Abdur Razzak and State Minister for Liberation War Affairs Tajul Islam and State Minister for Works Abdul Mannan.
