Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- A meeting of the National Overseeing Committee for the procurement of National Payment Switch and e-Payment Gateway package was held at Bangladesh Bank (BB), the country’s central bank, in Dhaka on Tuesday. 
The BB is procuring the system under the World Bank funded Central Bank Strengthening Project, a central bank press statement said. 
Former Adviser to the caretaker government Jamilur Reza Chowdhury, ICT Ministry consultant Monir Hasan, Dhaka University Assistant Professor Shahed Anwar, BRAC University Professor Mumit Khan, Bangladesh Computer Council Secretary Mohammad Enamul Kabir, Deputy Governors Nazrul Huda, Ziaul Hasan Siddiqui, Executive Directors Ahsanullah and Dasgupta Asim Kumar attended the meeting. 
A presentation was made on the overview of the automation initiatives taken at the central bank in the presence of Bangladesh Bank Governor Atiur Rahman.
During the meeting, Jamilur Reza Chowdhury and other members of the committee praised the central bank for the massive automation initiatives and the successful implementation. 
Governor and members of the committee visited the Data Centers of the Central Bank Strengthening Project, ACH and CIB established in the Head Office of BB. The committee also witnessed live demonstrations in the CIB and ACH data centers.
The central bank has already implemented a significant part of the IT packages. Network connectivity has been established covering all the offices of the BB. Implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning, Banking application, Enterprise Data Warehouse, Online Credit Information Bureau (CIB) and Automated Clearing House (ACH) are also at the stage nearing completion. 
Recently, the central bank has taken initiative to establish the National Payment Switch and e-Payment Gateway in line with the National ICT policy taken by the government.
