California, US (BBN)-Along with the Internet Explorer, another feature from the older Microsoft operating system that won’t make it to the successive Windows 10 is the Windows Media Centre.
Microsoft has confirmed that its Windows Media Centre will rest in a grave as soon as the new OS goes live.
The feature debuted in 2002 as Windows XP Media Centre Edition (MCE) and was updated through Vista and Windows 7. It later was offered as an add-on product for Windows 8, reports IBN Live.
A report on ZDNet notes if you try to install the most recent build of Windows 10 on a PC running Media Centre, you will receive a warning saying that the app is not compatible with the operating system.
The Windows Media Centre was an innovative and necessary offering by Microsoft that was ahead of its time and considered by many an important piece of software that gave worth to Microsoft’s add-on packs.
The Windows Media Centre let you turn your PC into a living room entertainment console, on which you could watch locally stored content.
For those who can’t bring themselves on terms with the certain exit of Windows Media Centre can either opt for not upgrading to the Windows 10 operating system or go for alternatives like the Xbox One app or TiVo.
