Bangladesh’s stocks turn positive at midday on Wednesday

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Bangladesh’s stocks witnessed positive trend at midday on Wednesday as some optimistic investors took position on sector specific stocks.
After hitting all-time of the premier bourse’s key index in the previous day, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened with a mixed trend.
Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse fell 5.22 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse advanced 4.06 points at 10:45am.
After 30 minutes of trading, DSEX fell 12 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse plunged 50 points at 11:00am.
After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX recovered the early losses and gained 7.62 points, while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse remained in the red with losing 11 points when the report was filed at 12:00 noon.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE
DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) stands at 5,838 points, advancing 7.62 points or 0.13 percent at 12:00 noon.
Two other indices also saw positive trend till then. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips advanced 3.40 points or 0.15 percent to reach at 2130 points.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) gained 2.73 points or 0.20 percent to reach at 1,325 points.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 3.34 billion, when the report was filed at 12:00 noon.
Keya Cosmetics was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 310 million changing hands, closely followed by IFAD Autos BDT 230 million, Islami bank BDT 117 million, Nurani Dyeing BDT 109 million and Agni Systems BDT 95 million.
Of the issues traded till then, 171 advanced, 94 declined and 53 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE
However, the port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) staying negative trend till then with its Selective Category Index – CSCX –losing 11 points to stand at 10,942 points, also at 12:00 noon.
Of the issues traded till then, 99 gained, 75 declined and 23 issues remained unchanged with BDT 210 million in turnover.
