Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), a wing of the World Bank Group, has showed its interest to support the power sector of Bangladesh.

"We've really seen to private investors in power sector right now and therefore paying a visit here to Bangladesh," Keiko Honda, Executive Vice President of MIGA, told reporters after a meeting with finance minister A M A Muhith at his secretariat office in the capital on Monday..

About the discussion with the finance minister, she said: "I just stated increasing investment from the investors in power sector and he (Muhith) is very supportive."

Replying to a query on the MIGA's future plan of support to Bangladesh, Honda said at this moment MIGA is supporting to Ashuganj power plant and others with total US$ 330 million. "But, we are to see more coming," she added.

Earlier, MIGA proposed for construction of two expressways under Public Private Partnership (PPP) concept during a meeting with Communication Minister Obaidul Quader yesterday.

MGIA showed its interest to construct two elevated Expressways one from Dhaka to Chittagong and another from Singair to Munshiganj under the concept.
