Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Millions of candles were lit at Shahbagh Projonmo Chottor in the capital Dhaka and elsewhere in Bangladesh Thursday evening demanding death penalty for all war criminals.

They observed a one-minute silence from 6:59pm Thursday in memory of all martyrs killed by Jamaat and Shibir during and after the Liberation War.

Imran H Sarker, convener of the Blogger and Online Activist Network, announced from Projanma Chattar (Shahbagh Square) that a public rally dubbed as 'Gano Jagoran Somabesh' would be organized at venue at 3:00 pm on Friday.

Leaders of some students' bodies and three bloggers who primarily spearheaded the movement would address the rally, among others.

Youths started demonstration on February 5 in the city's Shahbagh demanding death for all war criminals.

They launched the protest hours after the International Crimes Tribunal awarded life term imprisonment to Abdul Quader Mollah which most considered as a lenient punishment to the notorious war criminal.
