Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The government plans to start Biman’s flights on Sylhet-London routes within the next three months, civil aviation and tourism minister Faruk Khan has said.
“We’re committed to start Biman’s Sylhet-London flight within next three months. This will obviously facilitate promotion of Bangladesh’s tourism sector,” he told the Bangladesh Tourism Expo in London on Thursday.
Bangladesh Foundation for Tourism Development in association with Bangladesh high commission in London organized the expo, according to a message received in Dhaka on Friday. 
Mr. Faruk said the government had already launched visa on arrival scheme for citizens of 40 countries including United Kingdom.
 
Bengali community leaders, non resident Bangladeshis, local leaders, dignitaries and journalists attended the expo. 
A good number of Bangladeshi tour operators and travel agents, hotels and resort managements, organizational leaders came from Bangladesh to the UK to make this program successful.
The objectives of the event were to promote Bangladeshi culture and heritage, improve the image of the country, establish business network between Bangladesh and the UK and attract the UK tourists in Bangladesh. 
During the event, Bangladesh delegation highlighted the important historical, cultural and socio-economic features to draw attention of the UK tourists and non-resident Bangladeshi to visit country.
The minister explained the recent development of Bangladesh and highlighted the present government’s initiatives to promote tourism sector.
