Nazrul Islam who is also the Private Secretary -1 to the Prime Minister said the union information service centers (UISCs) have been set up in 4501 Unions across the country to bring the rural people under the information technology network for improving their lives and livelihood.
Only one in ten people has access to the banking services in the country, he said adding that introduction of mobile banking at the UISCs would open a new chapter in the banking services by bringing the rural people under banking coverage.
Farman R Chowdhury said the signing of MoU is an epoch making step for providing banking facilities to the rural people to accelerate the pace of building digital Bangladesh.
Most of the rural people have no access to banking services as there is no adequate number of bank branches, he said adding the introduction of mobile banking would help provide banking services to the rural people.
