Last updated: July 30, 2010
Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Mobile-phone users will have to dial 00, instead of 012, before the country code to make cheap international calls from August 1 this year, officials said.
The charge of the 00 code will be the same as the rate for 012, the previous low-cost code, also known as economy international subscribers' dialling (EISD).
But subscribers of Bangladesh Telecomm-unications Company Ltd (BTCL), the state-owned landline phone operator, will have to use 012 for now.
EISD covers around 55 countries and charges BDT 6.00 per minute it to BDT 16.50 per minute, the BTCL said.
