Mobile top-up vendors threaten strike from Thursday

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Mobile phone top-up vendors have threatened another fresh four-day nationwide strike from October 18, if their demands are not met immediately. 
Aminul Islam, president of Bangladesh Mobile Phone Baboshaye Association, a platform of the vendors, announced the strike at a press briefing at Dhaka Reporters Unity in Dhaka on Tuesday.
Their key demand is a raise in commission from BDT 27 to BDT 100 for every BDT 1,000 recharged.
Earlier, the retail level cell phone recharge dealers observed a three-day strike demanding hike in commission to 10 percent from the current 2.7 percent which was fixed at the initial stage by GrameenPhone and five other operators.
