Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Engr. Mustafa Anwar has been elected chairman while Yousif Abdullah Al-Rajhi and Prof. NRM Borhan Uddin were made vice chairmen of the Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited (IBBL).

The election was held in a meeting of Board of Directors of the Bank on June 13, the IBBL said in a statement on Sunday.
Besides, Executive Committee, Audit Committee and Risk Management Committee of the bank were reformed with Engr. Md. Eskander Ali Khan, Representative of Al-Rajhi Co. for Industry and Trade and Prof. NRM Borhan Uddin, PhD and Md. Abdus Salam, FCA, FCS as chairmen respectively.

Local and foreign directors including Mohammad Abdul Mannan, Managing Director of the bank were present in the meeting.
Engr. Mustafa Anwar, one of the sponsors of the bank, is the Chairman and Managing Director of Birds Group, a large business conglomerate in the RMG sector of Bangladesh.

He was also the Chairman and Advisor of several standing committees of BGMEA.

Mr. Anwar completed his graduation in Civil Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET) in 1964 and started his career as an engineer of Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB). He actively took part in the great Liberation War in 1971.

Prof. NRM Borhan Uddin, Vice Chancellor of City University secured Ph.D. in Management from Stevens Institute of Technology, New Jersey, USA.

Earlier, he taught and worked at several reputed universities including Livingstone College, USA at different rank and position. He is the Chairman of Audit Committee of the Bank.
