Mymensingh, Bangladesh (BBN)-The three-day 31st National Rabindra Sangeet Conference began at Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin Auditorium of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) in Mymensingh on Thursday.
The three-day program with the theme “Bondhon Hok Khoy” (destruction of bondage) includes discussions, informal gatherings of Tagore singers, rendition of Tagore songs, staging of dance-drama, recitation from Tagore's poetry and felicitating eminent personalities, organized by the Jatiyo Rabindra Sangeet Sammelan Parishad's (JRSSP) central unit
About 80 artistes from different districts and Dhaka began the celebrations with a chorus “Hobe Jai, Hobe Jai”. Later they also rendered “Bhengechho Duar Eshechho Jyotirmoy” and “Agun-er Poroshmoni Chhowao Pran-e”.
Some 200 artistes from Dhaka attended the conference. Besides, 300 artistes and organisers from 76 branches of Jatiyo Rabindra Sangeet Sammelan Parishad also joined the conference.
Veteran Tagore artiste Kazi Shahjahan Hafiz inaugurated the conference. Among others, BAU Vice-chancellor, Professor Md. Rafiqul Hoque; president of Sammelan Parishad's central unit, Zillur Rahman Siddiqui, and veteran Tagore artiste Dr. ABM Nurul Anwar were present at the inaugural session.
