Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has extended the deadline for individual tax return submission by one week to October 7 in response to request by various people and chamber bodies.

The time for submission of tax returns expired on Thursday.

The NBR has extended the deadline on special consideration after the businessmen made strong demand, officials confirmed.

The NBR has received nearly 350,000 individual tax returns until Wednesday. It has received BDT 7.33 billion against the tax returns.

The revenue board expected 1.0 million tax returns in the current fiscal.

At 8.5 percent, Bangladesh’s tax-gross domestic product ratio is one of the lowest in South Asia.
