Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has requested detailed information on the bank accounts of industrialist Mohammad Saiful Alam, widely known as S Alam, and his family members.
In a letter issued yesterday, Tax Zone-15 of the NBR instructed 91 banks and non-bank financial institutions to provide details of the accounts held by S Alam, his wife Farzana Parvin, his mother Chemon Ara Begum, and his brother Abdullah Hasan.
In addition, the NBR has sought details of the bank accounts belonging to their parents, children, siblings, other family members, and any organizations they own.
This development comes just 10 days after the Awami League government, led by former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, was ousted following a student uprising on August 5.
