Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– Nestle Bangladesh Limited has recently launched a six-month nutrition awareness program on the premises of Kapasia High School in Gazipur marking the World Health Day on April 7.

The Institute of Nutrition and Food Science of the University of Dhaka is collaborating the Nestle program, a press statement said.

Laurent Therond, managing director of Nestle Bangladesh Ltd, inaugurated the Nutrition Education Programme (NEP). Mirza Golam Hossain, senior manager (corporate affairs and communication) of Nestle Bangladesh and Md Nazrul Islam Khan, professor of Institute of Nutrition and Food Science of Dhaka University also attended the occasion.

The NEP aims to promote knowledge, attitude, motivation, skills and behaviour of 1500 adolescent girls from seven schools selected in Gazipur district.

Nutrition education as an efficient tool will ensure proper growth of children and contribute to reduction of all forms of malnutrition.

The program outcome is expected to enhance knowledge on various aspects and bring positive changes to the improvement of nutritional status and socio-economic condition as well as life style of the adolescent of the country.

The NEP will help the adolescent girls have better health to give birth to healthy babies in future and thus contribute to building a healthy nation for country’s overall development.
