Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar (BBN)-New Zealand Prime Minister John Key has invited Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina to visit his country early next year.

New Zealand ​ Foreign Minister Murray McCully conveyed the invitation to his Bangladesh counterpart Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali in the sidelines of the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) meeting being held in Myanmar’s capital Nay Pyi Taw, said a press release of Bangladesh foreign ministry.

During the meeting, they also discussed matters of mutual interest.
The two foreign ministers also discussed the issue of purchase of a ferry boat by New Zealand from Bangladesh.
The New Zealand foreign minister also appreciated the positive contribution made by Bangladesh community in his country especially in the socio-economic development.
Bangladesh foreign minister recalled with gratitude the valuable support and contribution of the people and government of New Zealand during the Liberation War in 1971 and also during post independence period.  
The two foreign ministers agreed to further widen and strengthen bilateral relations based.
