Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Journalists, press workers and employees will stage a sit-in demonstration in front of the Information Ministry at 11 am on May 27 to press for announcement of the gazette notification of their 8th Wage Board.
The program to this effect was announced after wrapping up of a six-hour hunger strike of the newspapermen today on the premises of the National Press Club.
The newspapermen under the umbrella of the Sangbadik-Sramik- Karmachari Oikya Parishad observed the hunger strike from 10 am to 4:00 pm demanding formation of the 8th Wage Board.
Leaders of the Parishad demanded intervention of prime minister for immediate announcement of the gazette notification on formation of the 8th Wage Board for the newspapermen.
They also called upon the working journalists, press workers and employees to continue their movement for realization of the 8th wage Board by ensuring consolidation of unity of the journalists union.
The Parishad leaders also demanded announcement of a separate wage scale for the electronic media, a press statement said.
