Norway, ILO pledge $2.5 million for workers’ rights

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The Norwegian foreign ministry and the International Labour Organisation (ILO) pledge around $2.5 million to promote workers rights and labour relations in export-oriented industries in Bangladesh.
Heikki Eidsvoll Holmås, Norwegian minister for international development, and Srinivas Reddy, director at the ILO’s country office in Bangladesh, are likely to sign a deal in this regard on Monday.
 
Ragne Birte Lund, Norwegian ambassador; Mikail Shipar, labour secretary, and representatives from Bangladesh Employers’ Federation and the National Coordination Committee for Workers’ Education are expected to attend the programme at Ruposhi Bangla Hotel in Dhaka.
