Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – The 12th session of the 9th Parliament that begins at 3:30 pm (local time) on Wednesday will continue until March 9 this year, officials said.

The decision was taken at the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting held at Parliament building with Speaker Abdul Hamid in the chair.

President Zillur Rahman has summoned the 12th session of the Parliament under the authority vested in him under Article 72 (2) of the constitutional.

This will be the winter session of parliament. As it will be the first session of the New Year, 2012, the president will address the House on the very first day as per the constitutional provision.

The 11th session of the current Parliament was prorogued on November 30, 2011. Seven bills were passed in 13 working days in the session.

The first session of the new years will be very important, as discussions will be held on the President’s speech. Besides, a number of important bills are likely to be passed in the session.

This session is expected to adopt condolence motions on the deaths of a number of eminent personalities, including Abdur Razzak, MP, National Professor Kabir Chowdhury and some former MPs.
