Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - The participants of foreign programmes like seminars, conferences, workshops and training have been allowed to receive more per diem for attending such events from the private sector.
Under the revised rules, the participants are allowed to get maximum US$350 for countries of SAARC and Myanmar and maximum $400 for others countries as per diem for each day instead of $200 and $250 respectively earlier.
The central bank issued a circular in this connection on Wednesday and asked the all commercial banks to enhance the limit of releasable foreign exchange for attending seminars, conferences, workshops and training abroad on per diem basis.
“Foreign exchange may be released only for the actual period of the program to be held on the basis of invitation letters received in the names of the applicants or their employer institutions,” the Bangladesh Bank (BB), the country’s central bank, said in its circular.
Photocopy of the invitation letter and all other related documents should be kept in record by the authorized dearer banks for post facto scrutiny by the inspection officials of the BB, it added. “Application for such release should be sent to Foreign Exchange Operation Department of the BB.”
