PM asks formation of committee to resolve RMG unrest

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Saturday night directed the authorities concerned to form a committee to resolve the labour unrest at the RMG industrial belts in Ashulia and Kanchpur.
The committee will work under the supervision of the labour and employment ministry to identify the reasons behind the crisis and recommend suggestions to resolve it.
Sheikh Hasina gave the directives when the leaders of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association, Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association, and Bangladesh Textile Mills Association met her at Gono Bhaban in the capital Dhaka.
After the meeting, PM’s Deputy Press Secretary Bijan Lal Dev briefed reporters.
 
He said the Prime Minister also asked the authorities concerned to examine the issue of increasing house rent of the garment workers thrice in a year in Ashulia area.
