Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Police picked up nine share market investors in front of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on Monday afternoon as they gathered there to protest the massive fall in share prices.
At about 1.30pm, leaders of Bangladesh Share Investors' Unity Council (BSIUC), a platform of retail investors, tried to demonstrate in front of the DSE to protest against the massive fall in share prices.
But police foiled their attempt and picked up at least nine people including president of Bangladesh Share Investors' Unity Council Mizan Ur Rashid Chowdhury, senior vice president Nazrul Islam, Publicity Secretary Mizanur Rahman and join secretary Kais Chowudhury.
Police said they picked up the investors as they tried to stage demonstration without prior permission.
On January 23, police also arrested eight investors who enforced dawn to dusk strike in Motijheel area protesting share price fall. However, later they were freed on condition that they would not resort to agitation, according to reports.
