President, PM, Speaker, BB governor greet Tigers on maiden WC quarters victory

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Bangladesh President Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Speaker Shirin Sharmin Choudhury, Opposition Leader in Parliament Raushan Ershad and BNP chief Khaleda Zia greeted the Tigers for sealing the quarterfinals berth in the ICC World Cup for the first time.
In a separate message, cricket loving Bangladesh Governor Dr Atiur Rahman also congratulated the Tigers immediately after Bangladesh stormed into the quarterfinals for the first time in the history, knocking out England from the tournament of ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.
Tigers clinched a thrilling 15-run victory over England in their 5th Pool-A match at Adelaide Oval in Australia on Monday.
With the victory, the Tigers knocked England out of the ICC World Cup tournament.
This is Tigers third World Cup triumph.
“The President thanked players, manager, coaches and the Cricket Board officials for the success,” President’s press secretary Ihsanul Karim told UNB over phone from London.
The President is currently staying in London for treatment.
Abdul Hamid hoped that the Bangladesh cricket team will continue their winning trend in the coming matches.
The President also wished continued success of the cricket team.
In a message of felicitation, the PM especially thanked the national team players, manager, coach and officials of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for this outstanding feat.
Hasina also wished continued success of Bangladesh cricket team.
“It makes our proud in the way the cricket fans across the country delighted with joy and cheered the Bangladesh team on their victory,” said Mr Rahman.
In separate message of greetings, Shirin Sharmin and Raushan Ershad also congratulated the Tigers and hoped that the Tigers would continue the winning streak in the upcoming matches of the World Cup, and wished continued success of Bangladesh cricket.
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in separate message also hailed the Bangladesh cricket team over their outstanding success.
Cricket fans across the world specially Bangladeshi supporters greeted the Tigers through different social media including Facebook and Twitter after their feat.
