Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– President Zillur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday watched the first match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 between Bangladesh and India at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in the capital Dhaka. 
As the president arrived at the stadium, Prime Minister Hasina welcomed him.
Both the president and the prime minister watched the match from the VVIP lounge.
Bangladesh is co-hosting the Cricket World Cup for the first time with India and Sri Lanka holding eight matches in Dhaka and the country’s port city, Chittagong. 
The curtain of the World Cup was raised two days ahead of the first match by staging a colorful opening ceremony at Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka.
