Prices of rice down while onion and garlic up

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – The prices of per kg medium quality rice decreased slightly while the prices of per kg onion and garlic increased in Dhaka on Wednesday.

Prices of both the local and imported onion and garlic increased in the market.

The prices of per kg medium quality rice is at BDT 46-54 on Wednesday where it was at BDT 48-54 on Sunday, according to latest data provided by the state-run Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB).

On the other hand, the prices of per kg local onion is at BDT 75-85 today while it was at BDT 70-80 on Sunday.

However, the prices of per kg imported onion is at BDT 55-65 today and it was at BDT 50-60 on Sunday, the TCB data said.
Meanwhile, the prices of per kg local garlic is at BDT 70-80 today as where it was at BDT 60-70 on Sunday.
In the meantime, the prices of per kg imported garlic is at BDT 80-100 today as it was at BDT 70-90 on Sunday.
The prices of other essential items however remained almost unchanged at different kitchen markets in Dhaka on Wednesday, the TCB data added.
