Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Prime Bank Limited has signed a license agreement with Japan Credit Bureau (JCB) International Co. Ltd., enabling the bank to issue and acquire JCB cards as a pioneer in Bangladesh.
Ehsan Khasru, Managing Director of the bank, and Hiroshi Terada, executive vice president of JCB, signed the deal on behalf of the respective organizations at a city hotel on Tuesday.
Mr Khasru said the cards, which are new in Bangladesh, will definitely provide value-added services to the customers in the country.
The managing director hopes to launch the cards towards November this year under the deal.
Mr Terada said Bangladesh is one of the important markets for JCB’s global market expansion strategy.
Though JCD they are new comers in Bangladesh, they are confident about success of the new approach, he added.
JCB, a major international payment system dominating the card market in Japan, holds the position of fourth largest payment brand, which is now issued in 17 countries around the world, officials said.
It has about 64.21 million card members worldwide. Their cards are accepted by about 16.41 million merchants in 190 countries and associated with more than 350 financial institutions in the world, they said.
