Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– Former Vice Chancellor of Rajshahi University Khan Sarwar Murshid died at the city’s Apollo Hospitals on Saturday afternoon. He was 88.
Professor Khan Sarwar Mushed was undergoing treatment at the ICU of the hospital and expired at 4.40 pm today,” an Appollo Hospital official said. 
Professor Murshid was admitted to the hospital on October 18 after he had suffered a second stroke in less than a month. 
Earlier on September 23, he was admitted to the hospital following a stroke.
Murshid, a trustee board member of Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB), was also a Dhaka University teacher and chairman of TIB.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock at the death of eminent educationalist Professor Khan Sarwar Murshid.
In a condolence message, the Prime Minister recalled his valuable contributions to the field of education and his important role in the country’s all democratic movements. “His death is an irreparable loss to the nation.” 
The prime minister also prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed his deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith also condoled the death of the eminent educationist. 
Law Minister Barrister Shafique Ahmed and State Minister for Law Quamrul Islam also condoled Khan’s death.
