Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The Authorities of Bangladesh Railway (BR) has taken a fresh move to extend the time duration of ticket sale by two more hours to effectively handle the excessive pressure of homebound people ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr.
Tickets for the August 16 will be sold on Tuesday from 7am to 5pm and similarly tickets for Aug 17 and 18 will be available on Aug 8 and Aug 9 respectively during same time, officials said.
The decision was taken considering miseries of the aspirant travellers who failed to collect tickets even after waiting for hours, they added.
They also said everybody has to realise the difficulties of the BR considering limited seats in the trains.
According to BR, it has now a capacity of 12,949 seats of intercity trains for different destinations of the country, 25 per cent of which are allocated for e-ticketing, 5.0 per cent each for VIPs and its employees.
If the Eid is celebrated on August 20, then tickets before the festival day (August19) will be sold out at the station counters.
