Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Asia Cup’s Twenty20 debut might be marred by rain as Dhaka woke up to cloudy skies and sun playing hide and seek until Wednesday noon, seven hours before hosts Bangladesh and India face off in the opening match.
What will keep most fingers crossed is the words of the local MeT department that has forecast possibility of “rain/thunder showers” in run-up to the start of the match, which is 7:30pm (BST), reports the IBN Live.
“Partly cloudy” with “rain/thunder showers likely over the area” read the 1:00pm (local time) forecast on bmd.gov.bd.
If that happens, there is a possibility of game getting delayed due to wet conditions.
But the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium is prepared to face any such eventuality before or during the match.
The gloomy weather also invited tweets from some of the expert commentators in Bangladesh for the Asia Cup.
“Outside my window in Dhaka. This is going to be some shower! Luckily game 7 hours away!” tweeted Harsha Bhogle.
India, however, are sweating over the fitness of skipper MS Dhoni who is suffering from a muscle spasm, which forced the BCCI to send reinforcement in the form of Parthiv Patel.
