Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Heavy rain caused by cyclonic storm “Komen” washed out the second day play of the second Test between Bangladesh and South Africa in Mirpur on Friday.

The entire day match was called off at 12:00pm (BST).

Earlier, the persistent morning shower followed by heavy overnight rain compelled the match officials to announce that the second day play will be delayed, which finally was abandoned.

The hosts Bangladesh and the guests South Africa players had not even arrived at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur of Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, and will now contest what is effectively a four-day Test.

As per the scheduled, the Day 3 play will begin at the fixed time at 9:30am Saturday at the same venue.

But, more rain was forecast for the Day 3 that hang the fate of Second Test.

Earlier, Bangladesh ended the first day disappointingly as Tigers could only score 246 runs losing eight wickets in 88.1 overs.
