Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– Rajshahi University (RU) will introduce digital identity cards (ID) for its teachers, students and staff from October 19 this year for ensuring security on the campus.

The university authorities have decided to introduce the digital identity card system to check outsiders on the campus to avert any untoward situation.

Professor Mamunur Rashid Talukder, convener of the digital identity card implementation project, said they will start processing of the digital identity cards from October 19.

“At the first phase of the pilot project, we will serve the digital identity cards first to the officers and employees of the university administration building within October 21,” Mr. was quoted by The Daily Star, a local newspaper, as saying.
