Rangpur Express starts operation on Dhaka-Rangpur route Sunday

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - The newly installed Rangpur Intercity Express Trains will start its operations between Dhaka and Rangpur divisional town from August 21 this year, officials said on Wednesday.

Communications Minister Syed Abul Hossain is scheduled to formally inaugurate the train service at Rangpur rail station on Sunday, Director General of Bangladesh Railway M. Abu Taher reportedly said.

The railway DG said with the introduction of the express trains one of the pledges of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to improve connectivity between Dhaka-Rangpur would be fulfilled.

Under the schedule, Rangpur Express Train will leave Dhaka for Rangpur at 9 am and reach Rangpur at 7.00 pm. The train will leave Rangpur station at 7.40 pm and reach Dhaka at 6.35 am the next day.

The Rangpur Express Train will touch Airport, Bangabandhu East-Chatmohor, Natore, Santahar, Bogura, Bonarpara, Gaibandha, Bamandanga and Kawnia stations.

Necessary preparations have already been taken to make the launching of the two express trains in the northern divisional town a success.
