Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) has raised interest rates to 4 percent, which is the fourth such increase since October, 2009.

Bank officials said that the increase was a gradual step to bringing interest rates back to their normal level of 4.25 to 4.75 percent.

The Bank of Canada (BoC) on Tuesday kept its target for the overnight rate at 0.25 percent and repeated its commitment to hold current policy rate until the end of the second quarter.

The Bank of England (BoE) held its key lending rate at a record low 0.5 percent on Thursday and left its money-printing and quantitative-easing program on hold for now.
