Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- A roundtable discussion on “RMG Sector: Challenges and Way Forward” will be held in the capital on Saturday.
The discussion will be moderated by Zafar Sobhan, Editor, Dhaka Tribune, while the key-note speech will be given by Atiqul Islam, President, BGMEA, the organisers said.
The owners of top RMG companies, labour leaders, CEOs of top MNCs, and policy makers will participate as well. Also, “we are expecting the gracious participation of Honourable Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed as the chief guest.”
Last year’s Rana Plaza disaster has severely impaired the image of Bangladeshi RMG industry globally. The challenges faced at that time are still prevailing and blockading the development of the sector.
However, RMG contributes significantly to the GDP of Bangladesh and is the biggest earner of foreign currency. Several industries and services are built around RMG industry as well.
