Road accident kills 10 Bangladeshis in Mauritius

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Ten Bangladeshi workers were killed and four others injured in a road accident at St. Julien d`Hotman in Mauritius on Wednesday, foreign ministry officials confirmed.

The accident occurred at 7:50 am (Mauritius time) when an autovan carrying the Bangladeshis collided with a cargo lorry at St. Julien d`Hotman in the east of the island state, they added.

The Bangladeshi dead victims were identified as Aktar, 23, son of Ali Afzal of Brahmanbaria, Joy Hossain,31, son of Taher Mia of Brahmanbaria, Zahidul,24, son of Jalaluddin of Comilla, Mostafizur Rahman,26, son of Abdul Hakim of Brahmanbaria, Raqibul Hasan,26, son of Ali Afzal of Sadar upazila in Brahmanbaria district, Md Sayedur,25, son of Ali Afzal under Ashuganj upazila in Brahmanbaria, Moktar,24, son of Manzu Mollah of Comilla, Sagar,26, son of Jazu Mia of Brahmanbaria, Selim,34, son of Renu Mia of Comilla and Al Mamun,30, son of Yusuf Mia of Brahmanbaria.

The injured are Ilias Gazi, 29, son of Huju Gazi of Comilla, Mamun, 25, son of Dhanu Mia of Comilla, Hasan Sarkar, 23, son of Dulal Sarkar of Comilla, Suman, 21, son of Quddus Mia of Brahmanbaria.
