Road accident kills 15 in Bangladesh

Madaripur, Bangladesh (BBN) - At least 15 people were killed and 48 other wounded as an overcrowded bus plunged into a roadside ditch in the country’s central Madaripur district Friday morning.
A Barisal-bound bus from Khulna skidded off the road and fell into the ditch at about 11:00am (local time) as its driver lost control over the steering while negotiating a turn, police said.
Of the injured, 41 were admitted to Madaripur Sadar Hospital while the rest were taken to Kalkini Upazila Health Complex. The condition of six of the injured was stated to be critical.
Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan, Madaripur Deputy Commissioner Nur-ul-Alam and Superintendent of Police Nazrul Hossain visited the spot and declared assistance for the victims.
